while observing some great grey shrikes from august 2011 till april 2012, i saw that these birds had their own unique individual patterns by which they can be identified. result: 33 individuals of great grey shrikes in the municipalities ooststellingwerf and weststellingwerf.
from each bird i made a drawing of both sides of the head, the breast, the wings and the most outher feathers of the tail.
the 33 illustrations of the individuals are exhibited in the exhibition 'identities' in kunstruimte hiemstra, oldeberkoop from 23 september till 21 october 2012.

on may 12th 2012 the official start of "the year of the shrikes" will take place at staatsbosbeheer bargerveen, zwartemeer. this day is organized by sovon, stichting bargerveen and vogelbescherming nederland. my share is 2 lectures about my project "identities in weststellingwerf and oostellingwerf".

while observing some great grey shrikes, i saw that these birds had their own unique individual patterns by which they can be identified. i wondered if i could identify other shrikes too. so i started this new project in september 2011
from each bird i make notes and drawings of both sides of the head, the breast, the wings and the most outher feathers of the tail. i make a collection of great grey shrikes present in the municipalities ooststellingwerf and weststellingwerf.
at this moment, there are still a few birds present in oost en weststellingwerf.
this project will be in progress till april 2012 (when the last great grey shrikes are leaving the netherlands)

<<meeting east>>
this multiple is the first in the series <<meetings>> that revolve attempts to organize a meeting at a specific date, time and location. in this case: delleburen at 8.30 am on march 11th 2012.
presentation; text on grey white paper, folded to 105 x 147 mm, in transparant envelope.
i give the details of a meeting - the place, date and time, nothing more. the invitation to meet is potentially open to an audience of 50 (it's a multiple in a edition of 50). the idea arised when i bought the work <<meeting #13>> by the artist jonathan monk and translated it to another context.
